Dr. Victor Gbenro

Victor is a Deputy Registrar and head of the Inspectorate department of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). He has over 20 years of medical practice and has practiced at the State and private health institutions before his employment in the Federal public Service 12 years ago. He leads investigation activities involving practitioners’ registration, and accredited medical and dental training centers. His responsibilities also includes policy drafting and review of the laws of the MDCN (Code of Ethics and MDP Act). He is currently secretary to the MDCN Sub-Committee on the development of policy guidelines for the regulation of Assisted Reproductive Technology and also serve as a committee member of the Lagos State Health Enforcement and Monitoring Agency (HEFAMAA) for the development of practice/regulatory guidelines for cosmetic surgery.
Prior to his headship of the Inspectorate department, Victor provided leadership in the Administration and Registration departments of the MDCN at various times. Victor worked as a team lead for the digitalization of over 23,000 files of registered medical and dental practitioners and also the development of customized software for the online registration of practitioners in 2015 which lead to the pilot of online registration of practitioners in Nigeria.
