He established and directed the JHPIEGO Al Azhar training program for Laparoscopy in 1976 and JHPIEGO Al Azhar training program for microsurgery in 1980.
He with two of his colleagues established the first IVF center in Egypt on March 1986 and delivered the fist IVF baby in Egypt August 1987. He established the IVF unit at El Galaa Maternity hospital, MOH in 2000. And Al Azhar University ART unit in 2004.
He and two of his colleagues established the Egyptian Fertility and Sterility society (EFSS) on 1994.
He was a member of the Board of director and treasures of the International Association of Bioethics (IAB) since its establishment in 1992- 1998.
He served as a member UNESCO Intergovernmental Bioethics Committee (IGBC) (1999-2005), UNESCO International Bioethics Committee (IBC) (2006-2009). He served as a judge member of the Supreme Court for morality (2002-2004). He was a member and then Chair FIGO Ethics Committee for Human Reproduction and Women’s health since 1994-2006. Member of Scientific Technical Advisory Group (STAG) of RHR/HRP, WHO Geneva (2011-2016). Chair of the Scientific Technical Advisory Group (STAG) of RHR/HRP, WHO Geneva (2017-2018). Co-Chair the Ethics Review Committee (ERC) at East Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO)/WHO since 2017.
Member of Islamic Research Council Al Azhar since 2019. He was Assistant Secretary General IFFS 2011-2014 then Secretary General 2014-2017. FIGO President 2009-2012. Member of Lancet -Guttmacher Commission on SDGS 2016-2018. The Lancet Commission report published June 2018.
He authored and co-authored 368 papers, 30 chapters and 18 books in national and international publications, a reviewer and member of the Editorial Board of several international Ob/Gyn, human reproduction, population science and ethics Journals and has been an invited and keynote speaker in a large number of national, regional and international conferences. He conducted a huge number of training workshops for Imams, religious leaders, parliamentarian, political leaders, NGOs and HCPs on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Violence against children, gender issues and population policies.
